Postcards from Far Away

I remember reading about an alternative to a travel journal. The idea was to buy a postcard each day, record your details of the day, and send it to yourself in the mail. I thought that was a grand idea, but I was not so sure about using all those stamps, when you could just take the postcards home with you!
I am on an extended road trip right now, and this is the second time I have tried this postcard journaling. But, instead of mailing it to myself I just keep the postcards and take them home with me.
I have learned a trick or two as I have done this.
I buy a postcard when I can. (Often I buy more, because I love to also send postcards in the mail to my friends!) Anyway, I buy the postcards.

One thing I have learned to is position the postcard the way I want before I write on it. I do this, and put a little square in the corner.
The little square is so I can write the number of the postcard in the corner, and it will help me to punch a hole in the postcard later, in the correct corner. After they are punched, I will place it in my picture book along with my photos of the trip. Or you could tie it with a ribbon if you wanted.

If you don't position it, you can end up with some being upside down. It is better to have them all in order.

Then I write my memories of the day on the postcard. This is my journal for this trip. I like doing this on road trips especially.

Try it some time! On my way home soon!
