Christmas Cards After Christmas

I love Christmas cards! I love to buy them, I love to make them, and I love to send them to my friends and relations across the world. I love to add a letter, or a note. I love the way they provide consistent, yearly contact with people from my past. I love sending them off with the hope of providing a loved one with cheer. I love receiving them. I love the variety of cards I receive. I love the homemade ones, and the store bought ones. I love them all.

Now, Christmas is over for another year. I review each one, make needed address updates for next year. Then what?

My mother used them for gift tags for Christmas, and I think that is a grand idea. I go through them to see which ones will work – if there is writing on the back of the image, they are not a good choice for a tag. But, if not, then each can be cut in a circle, add a bit of ribbon, and they are ready made for next year’s Christmas gifts.

The easiest way to do this is a circle punch. But, if you don’t have a punch, you can trace a circle and cut around, or cut a different shape.

I save the front of the homemade cards because these can dress up a package all on their own. Use instead of a store bought bow.
